Nanna Heitmann

 

The Photographer I choose from the Magnum Photo Website is Nanna Heitmann. The first thing while selecting through the many photographers and deciding who I would write about, it was the bright airy tone of her images that is what drew me to write about her. This is the first picture I saw of hers from her personal website and I immediately wanted to write about her. 

The washy airy finish this picture has is so pretty. The way she softened the color and the image as a whole makes this look so peaceful. A lot of her images show this kind of airy softened filter and I think the muted tones just make these locations more magical and interesting. 

I like this vibe and aesthetic quite a bit. Enough so that I have played with softening my images to create a similar tone in my self portraits. This heavenly, airy, muted tone. It would be interesting to play with this airy lightened aesthetic more with outdoor spaces. I have multiple locations in mind around Williamsport that I think would match well with this aesthetic. These specific images remind me of film stills. The filter like feel, muted tones, and color reminds me of cinematic films.
